On September 8,  Lieutenant Governor Steven Point and 500 guests raised a  new Hosaqami totem pole at Government House.   The original Hosaqami, carved by Chief Mungo Martin for the Royal Canadian Navy in 1959,  was presented to the Royal Navy and  stood for 30 years at Portsmouth, England.  The new Hosaqami, carved by Chief Tony Hunt,  was commissioned in honour of Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee.  Chief Hunt, a grandson of Chief Martin, helped with the original pole when he was a boy.
