Behind every great garden is a good nursery! The Nursery uses cuttings and plant division as well as seeds sourced from their native habitat and private gardens to provide Government House garden stock. Plants are also sold to the public in the summer. Proceeds support the gardens.
Primulas and blue poppies are of special interest to the Nursery which raises a range of deer-resistant plants suited for woodland gardens.
Nursery Provides Proven Plants

The Nursery supplied more than 360 plants to support the planting in Government House gardens this season. It grows a wide range of perennials and shrubs, and sold close to $8,000 worth of plants this year.
It also provided plants in support of gift certificate donations for sale to its members and the general public.
The Nursery opened in May with a good number of plants and varied stock as it came through the winter in much better shape than the previous year, when many of the plants suffered from extreme weather.
“We are fortunate to have such a dedicated group of volunteers,” says Caroline, Nursery co-ordinator. “They help to propagate, grow, and nurture the plants throughout the year. We are really grateful for their efforts.”
